Royal fans were sent into a tizzy last week when a photobooth shot of Meghan Markle at the British Fashion Awards was deleted from social media.
Many speculated why the GIF of the Duchess of Sussex posing with Givenchy’s Clare Waight Keller and actress Rosamund Pike had been removed from Instagram.
It was even taken off photographer Yvan Fabing’s profile, sparking rumours the instruction had come from Meghan or the ‘Firm’ itself.
But now it has been revealed why the Boomerang, taken backstage at the Royal Albert Hall, vanished and it may have had something to do with her nail polish.
A royal source told the Mail on Sunday: “There was something ostentatious in the way she was posed holding her bump, plus she was wearing dark nail varnish that the Queen hates.
“It wouldn’t be surprising if, aware of that, the duchess herself asked for it to be taken down.”
After the down-to-earth GIF was removed, a picture of Meghan addressing the crowd was posted to the awards’ account.
The same image was posted to the Kensington Palace account.
Meanwhile, it has since emerged that Meghan and Prince Harry have nicknamed ‘’Monica and Chandler’ by royal insiders because of the contrast between the LA-born actress’s control-freak personality and the Prince’s easygoing nature.
In the long-running sitcom Friends, romantic opposites Monica Geller and Chandler Bing eventually get together despite the fact that she’s obsessive about every detail and he’s just interested in a quiet life.
According to The Sun , the royal family’s staff have given the couple the affectionate nicknames because Meghan is seen as ‘wearing the trousers’ in their relationship.
Examples include the recent news that Harry will not take part in the Firm’s Christmas shoot, at Meghan’s request.
Royal fans have also noticed big differences in Harry’s appearance since he met Meghan.
The playboy prince slimmed down ahead of the Royal Wedding, and and many believe he might now be following his wife’s healthy diet.
Meghan used to blog about her love for food, speaking about how she was vegan in the week but enjoyed her favourite treats at the weekend.
Keen royal-watchers have also noticed changes in Harry’s dress sense and even his social circle – changes which have been ascribed to his eagerness to please his new wife.
Conversely, though, a new paper by academics Laura Clancy and Hannah Yelin claims that Meghan’s social conscience has been muted by her new family.
Their report says: “While the monarchy appears to be celebrating her diversity and modernising influence, then, this is only permitted within prescribed boundaries.
“Markle’s activist voice has been either silenced or appropriated by the monarchy.
“She has quit her acting career, closed down her popular blog and social media accounts for all her online activity to be ciphered through Kensington Palace.
“Meanwhile, Markle is said to be receiving ‘duchess lessons’ from the Queen’s advisers, to be brought up to speed with protocol and expectations of life with the monarchy.”
