Reigning Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray went cruelty-free for New York Fashion Week by wearing a gray faux fur jacket over a coral satin dress.
In a recent Instagram post, Gray shared a picture of her with fellow Miss Universe 2018 candidate H’Hen Nie of Vietnam as they attended the New York Fashion Week events.
“Despite the snow/rain/hail today’s highlight was definitely catching up with my @missuniverse sister @hhennie.official, ” Gray wrote.
“Styled by @marquis.bias in Faux fur @tzarina_by_ollia @phuong_my@louboutinworld from @euroluxeperience.”
Many fans commended her cruelty-free choice, thankful that the reigning Miss Universe used her platform to speak up for the animals.
“There’s nothing more beautiful than a person who uses her platform to speak for the animals,” said one fan. “REAL FUR IS MURDER! FAUX FUR IS FOREVER!!! Thank you, Miss Universe Catriona!”
Many fashion brands are banning animal fur and exotic animal skins from their collections due to animal welfare.
Recently, former Spice Girl and now fashion designer Victoria Beckham announced that she will ban exotic animal skins from her collections starting fall 2019.
She also confirmed that her fashion brand never used animal fur and will never use them in future collections.
Chanel also announced late last year that it will ban animal fur and exotic skins from future collections after being called out by animal rights activists and organizations for years.
Both luxury fashion brands now join Gucci, Michael Korrs, Versace, and other fashion brands in banning animal fur and exotic animal skins from all designs.
